Community Support Services
Beyond medical care — supporting families with essential equipment, food security, health awareness, and volunteer training to build a compassionate community
Care Beyond the Bedside
QMCH's community support services extend far beyond clinical care to address the broader social and economic challenges that families face when a primary earner becomes critically ill. Through medical equipment distribution, food security programs, health camps, and volunteer training, we strengthen the entire support system around each patient — ensuring that families can focus on caregiving rather than survival.
Our approach recognizes that healing requires more than medicine. It requires dignity, nourishment, community awareness, and a network of trained volunteers committed to compassionate service.
Three Pillars of Community Support
Medical Equipment & Supplies Distribution
Free provision of beds, wheelchairs, oxygen concentrators, and essential medical supplies to patient homes
Food Security Program
Ration kits for families where the primary earner is incapacitated by illness
Medical Camps & Awareness
Free health camps, community awareness programs, and volunteer training initiatives
Medical Equipment & Supplies
During the reporting period (2022-2025), QMCH distributed ₹1.5 crore worth of medicines and life-support supplies to patients and their families — all provided completely free of cost. This includes:
Equipment Distributed
Ration Kit Distribution
When the primary earner of a family becomes bedridden due to illness, food security becomes an immediate crisis. QMCH addresses this urgent need through its ration kit distribution program.
Why Food Security Matters
When a family's breadwinner can no longer work due to terminal illness, the entire household faces both medical and economic crisis simultaneously. QMCH's ration kits provide essential food staples that sustain families during their most vulnerable moments — ensuring that caregivers can focus on supporting their loved ones rather than worrying about their next meal.
Health Camps & Community Awareness
QMCH conducts free medical camps and community awareness programs to extend healthcare access beyond registered patients and educate the broader community about palliative care and health issues.
Medical Camps Impact (2022-2025)
- 10 medical camps conducted across Chennai
- 2,000+ people benefited from free consultations, diagnostics, and medicines
- 4 community awareness programs educating the public about palliative care and health issues
- 4 volunteer training programs equipping community members with caregiving skills
- 102 volunteers trained through structured capacity-building programs
Building a Community of Compassion
QMCH's community support services are powered by a network of over 100 trained volunteers who extend the organization's reach far beyond what the core clinical team could achieve alone. These volunteers assist with home visits, medicine distribution, ration kit delivery, awareness programs, and patient companionship — transforming QMCH's mission into a true community-driven movement.
Through regular training programs, QMCH equips volunteers with the skills, knowledge, and emotional resilience needed to provide compassionate support to patients and families facing life's most difficult moments.
